Cocktails I’ve served that don’t suck:
1. Lemon juice, peach schnappes, vodka – 10%, 60%, 30%; serve in shot glasses

2. Kahlua, milk – 20%, 80%

3. Rum, pulp free orange juice – 20%, 80%

4. Vanilla vodka, kahlua, grape juice – 15%, 10%, 75%

5. Vodka, Mint Schnappes – 50%, 50%; serve in shot glasses

Food:

1. Lemon Chicken – Sauté chicken and sliced onions in 4 tbsp olive oil; add 6 tbsp lemon juice, 300 mL water, 100 mL milk, 1 tbsp sour cream, some basil, salt, and pepper. Cook until chicken is tender or looks all black and unedible.

Also, don’t add carrots. That’s what I did when I tried this for the first time. A very interesting experience indeed (wasn’t that bad, just looked weird).

2. Pita Chips – Combine 1/4 cup olive oil, and 1 tsp of ground black pepper, salt, and dried basil in a bowl. Brush cut up pitas and bake at 400 F for about five minutes.

If you bake these any longer, they get a tan. And tans on pitas are not sexy.

3. Crostini Mushrooms – Sauté sliced onions, mushrooms, thinly sliced tomatoes, and finely chopped garlic cloves. Brush sliced Italian bread with olive oil and add toppings. Also add some grated mozzarella, parsley, pepper, and Tabasco.

Broil for 4 minutes at 450 F. Your’s will never look as good as mine:

Crostini Mushrooms

Note: Enlarged to show texture (aren’t you tired of reading that warning on cookie packages?)

4. Salsa – All bottled and canned salsa is crap. That’s why you make your own:

Sauté 2 bell peppers (any colour), 1 hot pepper, 1 red onion, 1 can of tomatoes, 1 fresh tomato. Make sure everything is chopped and add some water, salt, and black ground pepper. Blend everything for 10-20 seconds. Anything more, and you get salsa soup.

5. Chicken in a Pita – If you nothing better to do with the salsa, try this:

Stir fry boneless, skinless chicken strips in olive oil. Sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Add salsa. Simmer until well cooked. Add shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes in a warm pita.

6. Rice – Add rice to boiling water. Forget about it overnight. Tastes great in the morning!

 7. Pasta – Repeat procedure outlined in step 6 for word class pasta.

8.  Canadian Fries – I’ve heard the ones from France are stuck on a ship for several months. I recommend Canadian Fries instead. Add boiling oil to whole potatoes and forget about it overnight. Have it for dinner the following evening.
